As you may have noticed by the complete name change, I’m in London baby! For the first time in a very long time I don’t wake up dreaming of the Asian land I left behind.

I wake up to cold, fresh air and a skyline so beautiful that I stand there watching the sun make her grand entrance and I question if this is real? Am I here right now? Then the kettle goes off and the rich aroma of tea fills my flat and I realize that I’m finally home.

All new beginnings are special but this time it seems different. I feel like a new person. This is a new chapter in my life and every new chapter needs a quote to start with. This time I believe the only words that can sum up my feelings are by an old friend, the good bard himself:

“This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle, this earth of majesty, this seat of Mars, this other Eden, demi-paradise, this fortress built by Nature for herself . McQueen

I’m not sure what to say. Even as I write I feel like I’m struggling to stay afloat in a sea of emptiness. I’m numb.

I’m writing from my hotel room in Memphis and I can’t help but feel like I’m lost in a nightmare.

I received a breaking news report on my phone that had me up and at the computer in seconds. I typed in the words and watched numb as the chaos unfolded before my eyes:

Alexander McQueen, UK fashion designer, found dead.

The next headline reads: Alexander McQueen commits suicide.

My vision is blurring and I keep having to pause. I can’t see the keyboard and I can’t comprehend.

I remember during my interview for school having to write about my favorite designer and why? I wrote about McQueen, why not?

The fashion world; the art world…. the world has been robbed today. We have been robbed of someone who has inspired thousands and there will never be another McQueen.

I’m sorry I can’t write anymore. I can’t breathe. I just. I can’t face reality today. I’m sorry.

Home is where the heart lies

I feel like a weary wanderer who has come home after almost too long, but just long enough.

After living abroad for three years it’s just good to be home.

In October when I board a plane that will once again take me to a new destination, to a new continent, and a new adventure I will gaze up at the skies. I will know that as long as I breathe the air of this Earth, my heart will love each land I travel but it will always know that the journey to the place of my birth is the sweetest part of every new beginning.

It’s funny that my journey took me across the ocean and around the world in order to make me realize that home is forever where the heart will lie.

Well. I don’t want to sounds like I’m excited or anything but…………………………………..

OMG IM FREE UNTIL JANUARY!!!! ASSESSMENT IS OVERRR!!!! I HAVE A LIFE AGAIN!!!!

*coughs* Sorry for that. To celebrate this glorious event I slept all day!!! It’s a great feeling to know that the first half of my first year in University is OVER! Now just three and a half more years to suffer

Now I just don’t know what to do with myself! It’s like now that I finally have all these me time but I’m at a loss as to what I should do with it? I’ve gone and demolished my bank account but I think after all those sleepless nights watching the sun set and rise and dragging myself off to classes when I just wanted to sleep gives me the right to buy me pretty things I’ve closed the door to my studio and I’m giving myself a break from art, technical flats, sewing and design! I love it but after eating,breathing and living off of it for five months it’s time I took a break.

So I’m off to party tonight and I’m going to live it up and love it down.

I promise I’m not dead. I’ve just had no life since uni started. My assessment is friday and then I’m free until January. I need this break. I need to get back to me. So much has happened since I last updated this blog…. I cut my hair, I can sew and I’m learning to appreciate the time I have with those I love. And I’m seeing someone who makes me so ridiculously happy.

The times ahead of me are going to be really rough but I can’t stay a little girl forever, sometimes things happen for a reason. But for right now I’m smiling and I’ll cherish what i have and I will make memories to keep me company for the lonely nights ahead. I’m going to share a few of the images I have found that brighten my day and I’m hoping they will put a smile on your face also.

So smile. Tomorrow is a new day with a new beginning and a new chance to write an ending.

So I have been slaving away on google images looking for examples of a various dress silhouettes for an assignment and to my twisted sense of humour I found something that I’m really considering handing in as an example of a classic Tent shaped garment.

In a State of Emergency?

I love fashion. I eat, breathe, sleep, live it. But lately after watching some of the these new trends come out and watching models trip up and down the runway I’ve found myself asking; Is Fashion in a State of Emergency?

The first trend that has me in the corner telling myself it will all be over soon has to be the shoulder pad comeback. Honestly that is one trend that should never be resurrected, it should have been murdered and disposed of properly.

In my opinion the only people who are excused from this Crime Against Humanity are the sport people who run back and forth, tackle each other and catch a brown prolate spheroid for a living. I think there is something in the Geneva Convention about Shoulder Pads. I can’t for the life of me figure out just what is appealing about a rectangular torso?

This next trend left me with shivers rolling down my spine in endless waves of terror. Feathers belong to birds and only on birds.
